ZenBusiness Pricing Breakdown: What Is Included, What Costs Extra, and What Is Missing

ZenBusiness offers LLC formation starting at $0. But the formation filing is the cheapest part of launching a US business. This breakdown covers what each ZenBusiness tier actually includes, what costs extra, and what critical services are not available at any tier — including the physical address and banking infrastructure that most founders discover they need after formation.

The Three ZenBusiness Tiers

ZenBusiness offers three pricing tiers for LLC formation. Each tier bundles different services at different price points. Understanding what is actually included in each tier prevents surprises after you have already formed your LLC and need to start operating it.

Here is what each tier provides as of 2026:

Starter — $0 (+ state filing fees)

The Starter tier covers the bare minimum:

That is it. The Starter tier does not include a registered agent, EIN filing, or any ongoing compliance services. You are responsible for designating your own registered agent (which Wyoming requires), obtaining your EIN from the IRS yourself, and tracking your own compliance deadlines.

The $0 price is for the ZenBusiness service fee only. You still pay state filing fees, which vary by state. Wyoming charges $100 for LLC formation plus a $50 registered agent fee if you designate one through the state.

Pro — $199/year

The Pro tier adds the services most founders actually need:

The Pro tier is the most popular because it includes the registered agent service, which is legally required in every state. Without it, you need to find and pay for a registered agent separately.

Premium — $349/year

The Premium tier adds speed and convenience:

The Premium tier is primarily valuable for the expedited filing if you need your LLC formed quickly, and for the annual report filing if you want to fully automate state compliance.

What Each Tier Is Actually Worth

Let us break down the value of what you are paying for at each tier:

Starter ($0): You are paying state filing fees only. The formation service itself is free. This is a loss leader — ZenBusiness makes money by upselling you to higher tiers or add-on services. If you are comfortable filing your own Articles of Organization with the state website, you could do this yourself for the same cost.

Pro ($199/year): The registered agent service is the core value. Standalone registered agent services from other providers typically cost $100-$150/year. Add the EIN filing convenience and compliance alerts, and the Pro tier is reasonably priced for what it includes. After the first year, the renewal price is $199/year for continued registered agent service.

Premium ($349/year): The additional $150/year over Pro buys you expedited filing (one-time value) and annual report filing (ongoing value). If your state charges $50-$60 for an annual report and you value not having to remember to file it, the Premium tier has modest ongoing value. The business documents templates and domain name are minor additions.

What Costs Extra (Add-Ons)

Beyond the tier pricing, ZenBusiness offers several add-on services at additional cost:

These add-ons are standard across formation services. Most are convenience wrappers around services you could access directly for less money.

What Is Missing From Every Tier

This is the section that matters most. There are critical services that ZenBusiness does not offer at any tier, at any price. These are the services founders discover they need after formation when they try to actually operate their business:

Physical Business Address

No ZenBusiness tier provides a physical business address. The registered agent address included in the Pro and Premium tiers is not a business address — it is a legal document receiving address. It cannot be used for bank applications, platform registrations, or as your principal place of business on government filings.

A physical business address requires a commercial sublease agreement at a real property. This gives your LLC a specific, identifiable suite at a commercial location with low entity density. The typical cost for a physical address with a sublease is $350/month ($4,200/year).

This is the single biggest gap in the ZenBusiness offering. Formation services get your LLC created. They do not get it operationally ready.

Utility Bill or Proof of Occupancy

Because ZenBusiness does not provide a physical address, it also cannot provide utility documentation at that address. Many banks and payment processors request a utility bill as proof of business address. A registered agent address generates no utility bills because you do not occupy any space there.

A commercial sublease that includes utility access solves this. Your LLC gains proof of occupancy at a physical address through the lease itself and through any utility accounts established at that location.

Bank Account Setup Support

ZenBusiness does not assist with the bank account opening process. They offer banking referrals to partner institutions, but they do not help you prepare for KYB (Know Your Business) verification, compile the right documents, choose the right bank for your situation, or recover from rejections.

Bank account opening is where most new LLC owners hit their first wall. The formation was easy. The banking is hard. And the gap between the two is entirely on the founder to navigate.

KYB Documentation Package

KYB is the verification process banks run on your business. It checks your entity documents, address quality, ownership structure, and business activity. Different banks weight these factors differently, but all of them check some version of each.

A KYB-ready documentation package includes:

ZenBusiness provides the first three items (formation docs, EIN, operating agreement). The remaining items — the physical address documentation that banks actually weight most heavily — are not available from any formation service. For a complete breakdown of what banks verify, see What Is KYB? How Banks Verify Your Business Before Opening an Account.

Platform Registration Support

If your business involves selling on Amazon, accepting payments through Stripe, or registering with any platform that requires business address verification, ZenBusiness does not help with that process. Each platform has its own verification requirements, and most reject registered agent addresses.

Stripe address verification, Amazon seller registration, and payment processor onboarding all require a verified physical business address — not a registered agent address. For international founders, these platform verifications can be as challenging as bank account opening.

IRS Address Updates

When you change your business address (from the registered agent address to a physical address), you need to file Form 8822-B with the IRS. ZenBusiness does not handle this filing. It is a paper-only form that takes 4-6 weeks to process.

True First-Year Cost Calculation

Here is what it actually costs to form and operationalize a Wyoming LLC in the first year, using ZenBusiness Pro as the formation service:

ItemCostProvider
ZenBusiness Pro (formation + RA)$199/yearZenBusiness
Wyoming state filing fee$100 (one-time)Wyoming SOS
Physical business address$4,200/year ($350/mo)Commercial sublease provider
SOS amendment (address update)$50-60 (one-time)Wyoming SOS
Bank account$0Bank
IRS Form 8822-B$0IRS
Total first year~$4,560

The ZenBusiness cost ($199) represents about 4% of the total first-year cost. The physical business address ($4,200) represents about 92%.

This is not a criticism of ZenBusiness. Their pricing is competitive for what they provide. The point is that formation is the cheapest and easiest part of launching a US business. The expensive and complicated part is everything that comes after: establishing a physical presence, passing bank verification, and becoming operational.

Year Two and Beyond

The cost structure shifts in year two:

ItemAnnual Cost
ZenBusiness RA renewal$199/year
Wyoming annual report$60/year
Physical business address$4,200/year
Total annual (year 2+)~$4,460

The formation filing fee does not recur. The SOS amendment is one-time. Your ongoing costs are the registered agent renewal, the state annual report, and the physical address.

If you chose the ZenBusiness Premium tier ($349/year), the annual report filing is included, saving you $60/year but costing $150/year more than Pro. The net difference is $90/year more for Premium, which is not significant enough to change the overall cost picture.

ZenBusiness Is the Cheapest Part of the Stack

The pattern that emerges from this breakdown is clear: ZenBusiness is excellent at what it does — affordable, reliable LLC formation with solid registered agent service. But formation is the beginning of the process, not the end.

The founders who struggle are those who assume that forming an LLC means they can immediately start operating. They sign up for ZenBusiness, get their LLC formed, receive their EIN, and then try to open a bank account. The bank rejects them because their address is a registered agent location. They try a payment processor. Same result. They apply to sell on Amazon. Rejected.

The gap between "LLC formed" and "LLC operational" is filled by services that formation companies do not provide: physical address, commercial lease, utility documentation, and KYB preparation. Understanding this gap before you form your LLC — or immediately after — saves weeks of frustration and multiple bank rejections.

ZenBusiness handles step one. You need a plan for steps two through five. For a complete post-formation checklist, see What Happens After ZenBusiness: Your Post-Formation Checklist.
